The Jaffelin Brothers established the house in these monastic cellars in 1816. Jaffelin has been known in recent decades for very good and quite reasonable wines from a place that is not known for reasonable prices. But something changed in the last decade. Mark and I have been blown away by the excellent wines they have been producing. It turns out that in 2004, they embarked on a journey to completely up their game. They completely renovated their winery with high precision equipment. They brought in young and dynamic winemaker Marinette Garnier as winemaker and charged her with raising the game in this historic wine house. Her influence has been electrifying.
These are excellent wines and the are remarkable values (unheard of in Burgundy)!
